Simon is a Trainee Solicitor at TV Edwards LLP. He joined as a Paralegal in January 2022 working on housing cases and he now assists Shaun Livingston with his Community Care and Court of Protection work.
Before joining TV Edwards LLP, Simon worked as a Money Adviser for a Local Authority. During this time, Simon helped clients with significant rent arrears and benefits issues to try and manage their debts whilst prioritising the importance of clients keeping their home. During his time at the Local Authority, Simon gained accreditation as a Money Adviser.
Whilst working as a Paralegal, Simon achieved positive outcomes for clients which included preventing homelessness and ensuring that clients with significant rent arrears avoided eviction. He was able to effectively use his experience from working within a local authority’s Housing Department to understand the duties they owed to our clients and obtain good outcomes.
Simon’s interest in benefits and housing began when he volunteered for Citizens’ Advice where he successfully represented clients at the First-Tier Tribunal (Social Entitlement Chamber) to challenge refusals of Personal Independence Payments. This has since developed into a wider interest in social welfare issues including Community Care and Court of Protection work. Whilst working alongside Jennifer Mansell, Simon helped to secure appropriate permanent accommodation for a vulnerable person.
Simon completed his Graduate Diploma in Law in 2020 and his Legal Practice Course, with a distinction, in 2022.
