We are very pleased to announce that TV Edwards’ Monica Kreel has been shortlisted for a Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year award, also known as the “legal aid Oscars”. Monica is a community care and public law solicitor who represents children and adults in the Court of Protection and in challenges to social services.
In support of her nomination, Monica’s clients said:
“Monica put so much effort into our case, she worked endlessly and tirelessly in order for us to receive the outcome we needed… we will be forever grateful… She is absolutely wonderful at what she does”
“[Monica] made us feel that our problems and issues were not ours to carry alone, and that is something not a lot of people are capable of doing”
As last night’s episode of Panorama showed (“Whorlton Hall: Hospital “abused” vulnerable adults), it is more important than ever that people who are unable to speak up for themselves have an independent and effective voice through legal representation to challenge poor care and support.
LALY winners will be announced at a ceremony on the evening of 10 July 2019. We wish Monica the best of luck!
