Pernilla Finnila

Pernilla is a family lawyer specialising in children law. She qualified as a solicitor in September 2022, having joined TV Edwards LLP in 2018. Pernilla works as part of the Children team of the Family department and has a wealth of experience in a wide range of cases concerning children in both public, private and international law proceedings.

Pernilla advises parents and other family members about arrangements for the children. She can assist with applications for child arrangements, prohibited steps, specific issue orders or parental responsibility orders. Pernilla also represents clients on international cross border children issues, such as relocating with a child abroad, or resisting such a move and child abduction cases.

Pernilla advises parents in respect of social services involvement with their family. Pernilla has experience of representing parents in complex care proceedings involving international elements, disputed allegations of domestic violence or child abuse, and issues concerning mental health and substance misuse.

Pernilla has a particular interest in cases involving domestic abuse and represents parties in non-molestation orders and occupation orders cases to protect vulnerable individuals or their children from harm. Pernilla advises both applicants and respondents.

Pernilla is committed to resolving family matters in a non-confrontational way, wherever possible. She takes care to tailor her approach to each client’s particular circumstances. She explains all options to ensure her clients feel confident in making the right decisions for them. She believes court proceedings should be a last resort, but where cases do end up in court, she helps her clients navigate what can be a stressful process and works tirelessly to ensure that her clients are supported.
