We continue to invest in our people so are thrilled to announce four recent promotions in the family and social welfare teams.
Our commitment to develop talent has been recognised by The Sunday Times where we have been named as one the best places to work in 2024. Our listing in the Sunday Times quotes: “At this London law firm a low turnover of staff is partly thanks to the empathy ingrained in the business, with its longstanding commitment to social justice. The success of its development programme can be demonstrated by the fact that existing staff have been promoted to associate, senior associate and partner roles.”
Claire Longland
Claire joined TV Edwards 14 years ago as a Paralegal. She trained, qualified, joined the panel, became a supervisor, an Associate and is now promoted a Senior Associate. A hugely knowledgeable children law specialist, Claire has maintained her impressive ‘Associate to Watch’ status in the Chambers UK 2025 guide and is recognised as a leading lawyer once again The Legal 500 2025 directory. She is a real ‘go to’ figure in the department for support, supervision, guidance and advice. Being such an integral part of the family team, she is a great asset to Head and Partner Paul Read and Partner Sarah Inchley.
Emily Black
Emily who is promoted to an Associate, is a home grow superstar and a great credit to the firm. Qualifying with us two years ago, Emily has developed into a fantastic lawyer and an essential part of the brilliant social welfare team. She’s been a supervisor for a year, demonstrates real passion for the work she does, is a strong team player and supportive colleague. Emily has been recognised for the first time as a leading lawyer in The Legal 500 2025 guide within the Social Housing practice area.
Maria Pilavaki
Maria is deservedly promoted to an Associate. Maria is five years qualified and has been on the children panel for 3 years. She has been part of our leading family care team for just over a year but in that time has made a big impression with colleagues and clients alike. Enthusiastic and industrious, Maria threw herself into supervision on joining and swiftly made a positive impact with colleagues. With quality casework referred to her directly and blossoming guardian contacts, Maria’s promotion will strengthen the department.
Anesha Pavaday
Anesha who has demonstrated tremendous talent has been promoted to an Associate. Anesha has added so much value to the family finance team since joining us in 2021. She was shortlisted for a Resolution ‘Rising Star’ award in 2023 and has been successfully nominated for a ‘Rising Star of the Year’ award at the Inspiration Women in Law Awards 2024. Being the recipient of a hatful of 5 star client reviews, Anesha thrives on creating positive relationships with clients and colleagues alike. Whilst taking on more complex and high value work and extending her supervisory responsibilities, Anesha contributes so much more to firm, directly referring clients, developing leads, always promoting the firm and its values and growing her own professional profile.
Managing Partner Julian Overton comments: “This year we have promoted eight of our lawyers to Senior Associate and Associate positions which demonstrates our commitment to looking after and developing our talent. I am proud that our current promotions recognise the hard work and dedication of lawyers who have progressed their careers with us over many years and we look forward to seeing them continue their excellent work with us. Investing in our people is the key to deliver exceptional client experience and to be the employer of choice. Many congratulations.”
