Juanita Kareer

Juanita qualified as a solicitor in April 2013 and specialises in family law matters concerning children. As an accredited member of the Law Society’s Children Panel, Juanita brings a wealth of expertise to her practice, focusing on the needs of parents and children alike.

Juanita’s practice is grounded in her commitment to representing families during some of their most challenging times. With extensive experience in public law proceedings, she is adept at navigating complex issues such as non-accidental injury cases, substance misuse, domestic abuse, child abuse, and mental health challenges. She also advises on adoption matters.

Juanita also represents parents and children in disputes around child arrangements. Whether it’s navigating allegations of domestic abuse, participating in fact-finding hearings, or addressing claims of alienating behaviours, Juanita ensures that the voices of both parents and children are heard and respected in the family courts.

Juanita’s expertise includes advising and representing clients in international children matters including child abduction, rights of access and relocation, assisting families facing the challenge of cross-border legal issues..

Notable Cases

• A (A Child) [2018] EWCA Civ 2240 (16 October 2018) – acted for the child through their Children’s Guardian in respect of an appeal relating to a Special Guardianship Order being made in favour of the child’s foster carer instead of family members residing in Ghana.
• Re H (Abduction: Retention in Non-Contracting State) [2019] EWCA Civ 672 – acted for the appellant in respect of an appeal against a Return Order.
