TV Edwards social housing and public team win praise
The 2017 Chambers & Partners directory has named 6 of our team as notable practitioners, the highest number at any firm within social housing nationwide. TV Edwards continue to buck the trend for contraction of legal aid services. We are delighted with the recognition of expertise within the department, which covers such a wide range of housing, public law and community care specialist services.
Praise for the recognised practitioners includes:
As head of the housing, public law and community care department Jane Pritchard is “a very charismatic and very good leader and very good at developing a collegiate approach.” She attracts a wealth of praise including for her ability to “inspire confidence” in vulnerable clients.
Katie Brown is experienced in a wide range of housing law including possession proceedings, disrepair claims and homelessness cases. Sources say that “she is very good at complex homelessness work which often raises issues of immigration law” and describe her as “very knowledgeable and skilled with a client-centred approach.”
Jenny Hunt and John Gorringe were ranked highly in tier 2.
Jacky Starling offers a wide range of legal advice to her clients, many of whom are publicly funded. One source says: “She knows the law back to front,” while another notes: “She has an utterly practical and knowledgeable approach.”
Consultant William Flack “knows both housing and public law inside out and is a passionate campaigner but realistic and pragmatic to work with,” according to sources. He is highly experienced in homelessness cases, as well as possession proceedings.
Jane Pritchard head of department commented:
“I am incredibly proud of the entire team, every member of which, from paralegals up, has earned a reputation for delivering exceptional legal advice and client care. Their dedication to maintaining access to justice is simply extraordinary”
