Katja Trela-Larsen

About Katja

Katja is a solicitor in the Family Department, advising on all aspects of private family law. She has particular expertise in divorce and the dissolution of civil partnerships, financial claims arising from separation, private children matters, occupation order proceedings, domestic abuse cases, and applications for non-molestation orders.

Katja is known for delivering clear, pragmatic advice tailored to each client’s circumstances. She supports clients through both non-court dispute resolution processes – such as mediation and arbitration – and litigation where necessary, always focusing on the most effective route to achieve the best outcome. In cases involving children, Katja promotes a child-centred approach to help secure arrangements that serve their best interests.

Katja qualified as a solicitor in March 2026, having completed her training contract at TV Edwards. During her training, she spent 18 months in the Family team and six months in the Dispute Resolution team, where she gained experience across a broad range of commercial and civil disputes.

Before joining TV Edwards as a Family Finance paralegal in 2023, Katja developed a diverse skill set through roles in the art market and at the Financial Markets Law Committee.

Katja holds a Master of Laws (LLM QLD) from Birkbeck, University of London, awarded with distinction in 2020, and achieved a distinction in her Legal Practice Course at City, University of London in 2022. She originally studied Chemistry at Durham University for her undergraduate degree.
