Grace Mowatt is a solicitor in the Family Law team at TV Edwards, specialising in both public and private law children matters. Since joining the firm as a paralegal in January 2020, Grace has progressed through her training contract and qualified as a solicitor in September 2023.
Inspired by her mother’s career in the legal field, Grace pursued a degree in law with the aim of making a meaningful difference in people’s lives. She found her passion in family law, where she is committed to helping families navigate difficult and often emotional circumstances with sensitivity, clarity, and care.
Grace has particular expertise in complex children law cases and is known for her practical, trauma-informed, and cost-effective approach. She regularly advises and represents clients in the following areas:
- Pre-Proceedings (PLO): Supporting parents and carers before formal care proceedings begin, helping them understand their rights and make informed decisions.
- Public Law Proceedings: Representing vulnerable parents in disputes involving children’s social services, including cases with international elements. Grace works closely with clients experiencing mental health challenges, domestic abuse, substance misuse, or neurodiversity, ensuring they feel heard and supported throughout.
- Private Children Matters: Advising on complex disputes about child arrangements, particularly in cases involving serious allegations of domestic abuse.
- Special Guardianship: Guiding prospective special guardians through the legal process and helping secure appropriate support packages.
- Injunctions: Assisting clients in obtaining non-molestation and occupation orders to ensure their safety and wellbeing.
Whenever possible, Grace conducts her own advocacy in court, representing clients in PLO, public law, and domestic abuse cases. For more complex matters, she collaborates with experienced barristers to achieve the best outcomes.
Grace is also expanding her practice to include national and international relocation and child abduction cases, representing parents on both sides of these sensitive applications.
