“Niamh qualified as a Solicitor in the Social Welfare department at TV Edwards in September 2025. Niamh carries out a range of Housing, Court of Protection, and Community Care work. Niamh’s housing experience includes homelessness applications, defending possession claims bought for rent arrears, sub-letting, anti-social behaviour, and succession issues. She also works on matters in the Court of Protection, challenging the deprivation of liberty of individuals who lack capacity to make decisions about their residence and care. Niamh has also worked on community care cases challenging Local Authorities on the care and support they should be providing to vulnerable individuals.
Niamh joined the firm as a paralegal in January 2023, before starting her training contract in September 2023. During her training contract, Niamh undertook seats in Housing, Family Care Proceedings, Court of Protection and Public Law work. In the final seat of her training contract, Niamh worked on Housing, Court of Protection and Public Law cases under the supervision of Katie Brown and Jenny Mansell. Niamh will continue with this mixed practice upon qualification.
Graduating with a 2:1 in History from University of Southampton in 2020, Niamh aspired to pursue a career in law, particularly Social Welfare law. Niamh went on to study the GDL and the LPC in 2021 and 2022 respectively, gaining a Distinction in both. Niamh volunteered at Citizen’s Advice whilst working toward these qualifications, which cemented her interest in working to provide justice for people in local communities and helping people to navigate the complexities of the law.
Upon finishing the LPC, Niamh undertook a mediation course which built upon her skills and confirmed that she wanted to help people to navigate conflict situations. Niamh is a PDSL, CIArb, CMC and IMI qualified mediator. Continuing in her work at Citizen’s Advice before starting at the firm allowed Niamh to realise the importance of access to the law for people suffering from inadequate housing and support from Local Authorities.”
