Jamie is a Trainee Solicitor in the Social Welfare department at TV Edwards, supporting Emily Black and Alma Shams with their Housing and Court of Protection cases. Jamie previously supported Shaun Livingston with his Community Care, Court of Protection, and Public Law cases.
Before joining TV Edwards, Jamie interned for several months at Hackney Community Law Centre where he gained experience assisting clients on housing matters such as defending possession claims, funded by legal aid.
In July 2022 Jamie achieved top quintile results in the new SQE1 law exam which rigorously tests legal knowledge across a broad curriculum of civil and criminal law. He studied for these exams whilst working as a Business Director at one of the UK’s leading media firms. Prior to joining TV Edwards, Jamie worked for nearly a decade in the media and advertising sector. He graduated in 2011 with a 2:1 from the University of Manchester in Politics and Philosophy, and subsequently completed an MA (with Merit) in Political Theory in 2012.
Jamie joined TV Edwards with a range of transferable skills developed over a successful 12 year period in the private sector, along with legal knowledge and experience gained from his studies and internship respectively.
Jamie’s motivation for moving into Social Welfare law comes from a desire to help promote access to justice for people facing challenging circumstances, particularly those on lower incomes or in vulnerable positions. He’s looking forward to a long and fulfilling career as a Solicitor where his work makes a positive contribution to society.
Awards
During his advertising career, Jamie won and was shortlisted for several industry awards, including being featured in Campaign Magazine’s ‘30 under 30’, and a finalist for MediaWeek’s ‘Rising Star’.
