We are extremely proud of Social Welfare Associate Solicitor, Shaun Livingston, who on Friday, 4th July, won the Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year Award 2025 in the Public Law category. Shaun was joined by members of TV Edwards’ Social Welfare team in celebrating this well-deserved recognition at what was an inspiring and memorable event.
The Legal Aid Lawyer of the year awards:
The Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year (LALY) Awards, organised by The Legal Aid Practitioners Group (LAPG), honours outstanding achievement across the UK legal sector. What sets the LALYs apart from other awards is their focus not only on legal excellence, but also on recognising lawyers as courageous and compassionate individuals who make a profound impact on the lives of others.
About Shaun Livingston:
Shaun qualified as a solicitor in 2013 and joined TV Edwards in October 2020. He is a Legal Aid supervisor in community care and an Accredited Legal Representative (ALR), enabling him to represent incapacitous individuals directly in the Court of Protection.
Shaun specialises in complex welfare cases in the Court of Protection and is regularly instructed by the Official Solicitor and professional advocates. His expertise also extends to public law, where he represents clients with diverse community care needs under the Care Act 2014, Children Act 1989, and Mental Health Act 1983.
Shaun’s skill and dedication have been recognised in Chambers UK 2025 as an “Associate to Watch” and in the Legal 500, where he is praised for his legal acuity and deep understanding of both legal principles and practical realities. Legal aid work is central to Shaun’s practice, and he is committed to achieving the best outcomes for vulnerable clients with care, clarity and determination.
What do we think:
Managing partner, Julian Overton say:
“Shaun is a vital part of our highly respected Social Welfare team, and this recognition couldn’t be more deserved. His fearless advocacy, legal excellence, and commitment to driving meaningful change are exactly what this award celebrates. Shaun tackles complex, often novel legal challenges with integrity and collaboration, always focused on securing the best possible outcomes for those he represents.”
Congratulations to Shaun, this is a well-deserved win.
We’d like to take this opportunity recognise our exceptional Associate Solicitor Georgia Patterson, who was also shortlisted for the LALY’s 2025 in the Criminal Defence category. Georgia’s talent and dedication mark her as one to watch for the future.
