Lizan has experience in community care, housing, education and public law. There is often an overlap between these areas, she is therefore able to take a holistic approach to meeting her clients’ needs.
Lizan advises and represents individuals seeking to challenge public body decisions including needs assessments, care planning, direct payments, personal budgets, assistance to migrant families, and support to children leaving care.
She has experience in bringing Judicial Review proceedings, human rights challenges and complaints regarding social care support.
Lizan has particular interest in cases involving issues of support for children, care leavers, victims of human trafficking, asylum seekers and persons from abroad, as well as age disputed asylum seeking minors.
Lizan frequently receives referrals from advocates, support organisations and charities to challenge decisions which affect support for vulnerable individuals.
She developed an interest in social welfare after volunteering at her local Citizens Advice where she worked closely with a housing solicitor.
